Squad

Our squads cater for all swimmers, whether they be interested in fun and fitness or a goal of one day representing Australia. We have a strong emphasis on technique, that will allow all swimmers to develop a skill that will carry them through to adulthood, being able to enjoy everything that water based activities have to offer.

There is no set minimum number of weekly sessions required. Instead, we recommend a specific range tailored to each swimmer's level. This range is designed to help swimmers maintain their skills and fitness alongside their squadmates, while also building confidence and improving overall fitness levels. Squads can continue year round with our holiday program ensuring continuity throughout the year.

Those who enjoy competing are encouraged to come along to our fortnightly race nights, which run during term 1 and 4 and open to all Flinders Aquatic swimmers above the level of Dory Gold. Swimmers may also choose to join our swimming team Flinders Phoenix, which competes a various local and regional competitions throughout the year, with some athletes reaching the level of state and nationals.

SQUAD TIMETABLE

Bronze Squad

Bronze squad is our introduction to squad level swimming. The focus is on all four strokes with technique being a priority. We extend on diving and introduce open turns (used in butterfly and breaststroke). Swimmers will need to demonstrate the ability to complete sessions to a set standard, maintaining good technique, in order to progress to Silver.

We encourage participation in competitions including flinders phoenix race nights, where the objective is to learn and improve while having fun.

Recommended: 2-4 sessions per week
